When my world is on fire

Between Family, A collection of poems

Between Family, explores familial relationships in five sections – Heirlooms, History, Heartache, Healing, and Hope.

There is sweetness and sadness
much gladness for one another
and look at us making it through
loving and learning in this life
we have each other.

When Poems Become A Gallery Exhibit

This year I had the pleasure of creating an art exhibit based on my book, Between Family. For a month, three walls within, From Here to Sunday became a living room. The space was designed to be both vibrant and serene. Poems were printed on stretched canvas, and pinned to walls with ribbon connecting them to symbolize family ties. During the exhibition, I also co-hosted two community workshops focused on making family heirlooms, in collaboration with illustrator, Ana Krent, and fashion designer, Amari Thomas.
